Florian Lipowitz’s Tour de France 2025 bike size reflects his climbing-oriented setup and pro-level fit. Racing the 2025 UCI WorldTour season with Red Bull BORA–Hansgrohe, Lipowitz supports team leader Primož Roglič while continuing his own rise as a Grand Tour contender.
He placed 7th overall in the 2024 Vuelta a España, nearly winning the white jersey for best young rider. In 2025, Lipowitz continued his breakout campaign, finishing 2nd at Paris–Nice and 3rd at the Critérium du Dauphiné, right behind Pogačar and Vingegaard.
🚴 From Biathlon to Pro Cycling
Before turning to road cycling, Lipowitz competed in biathlon at a national level, even winning the German School Championship. A torn ACL during cross-country skiing training led him to spend a year focused solely on cycling. What started as part of his off-season training quickly became a new calling.
He won the 2019 Engadin Cycle Marathon (214 km / 4,000m climbing) at age 18, setting a new course record in 6h09’32. That performance turned heads. With support from Dan Lorang and Team Tirol KTM, he transitioned to pro racing, eventually joining BORA–Hansgrohe in 2023.
🛠️ Florian Lipowitz’s 2025 Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL8 – Bike Setup
Lipowitz rides a 54 cm Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL8 during the Tour de France 2025. He stands 180 cm tall, and his bike is built for stiffness and climbing performance. His setup is tuned for lightweight efficiency, with a 135 mm stem and 400 mm handlebar, maximizing aero gains.
The new team livery for Red Bull–BORA–Hansgrohe is also responsible for the slightly higher total bike weight. Lipowitz’s bike weighs 7 kg, slightly above the 6.6 kg of a stock Tarmac SL8. However, in the high mountains, the aero wheelset will likely be swapped for a lighter version with flatter rims. This adjustment would bring the total weight close to the UCI minimum of 6.8 kg.
He also uses a Silca 3D-printed titanium derailleur hanger at the rear, another marginal gain detail and optimum shifting efficiency.
The team mechanic uses wax to lubricate the chains. Not oil. For each stage of the Tour de France 2025, the team mechanic fit a newly waxed chain on the bike for optimum friction reduction efficiency.
