What is Nairo Quintana’s 2020 Bike Size?

For the year 2020, the legendary Colombian climber is racing on the Canyon Ultimate CF SLX size XS .

Canyon does recommend the size XS to riders measuring from 1m66 to 1m72.

As I often mention in my podcasts and videos; Professional road racers tend to select frames 1 to 2 sizes smaller than the recommended size by the manufacturer.

However Nairo Quintana being 167cm he is perfectly within the recommended size except for the stem length.

How is Nairo’s fitting position set up?

Nairo uses a 110mm long Canyon Aerokit CF stem which is a combo set with a 400mm Center-to-Center (C-C) handlebar. Interestingly this combination is not available on Canyon’s homepage.

His saddle top is set at 690mm from the center of the Bottom Bracket to the top of the saddle. Distance from the tip of the saddle to the center of the virtual axle of the handlebar is 532mm.

After years of using the Fizik Arione antares R1, Nairo has finally switched to a Selle Italia Pro Team Carbon rails.

Nairo uses 172,5mm crank arms length and 54/42 front chainring with 11/30T 11 speed cassette.

What the specification of the Team Arkea-Samsic Canyon Ultimate CF SLX Disc?

The team Arkea-Samsic has selected Disc brakes mount for all its team bikes.

The gears are from the Shimano Dura Ace Di2 11 speed electric groupset. The wheels are also from Shimano Dura Ace range. All disc and Tubular tire type.

The bikes are rolling on Continental Competition Pro Ltd tubulars with 25mm section. Note the Canyon CF SLX Disc version does have a 30mm tire clearance. The Rim brake version has 28mm tire clearance.

Like an increasing number of pro teams, Team Arkea-Samsic uses Wahoo GPS to record races.

Elite is the official provider of bottle cages and Bidons for the team.
