It was long overdue, Joao Almeida’s 2022 Bike size as he raced the Giro d’Italia.
After two years of racing for the team Deceuninck – QuickStep, the Portuguese rider joined the Team UAE Emirates in 2022.
This move supports Almeida’s ambitions on a Grand Tour and gives the Team UAE Emirates a second strong contender for General Classification victories on races where Tadej Pogacar is not participating.

Joao Almeida Rides a Colnago V3RS size 48.
Almeida is 1m78 tall and is riding on the Colnago V3RS size 48.
Almeida is riding with his Prologo M5 Scratch saddle at 728mm high measured from the center of the bottom bracket to the top of the saddle and 77mm setback.
His bike has a Darimo T2 Seatpost with a 15mm setback.
Custom parts
There is very little information to be found regarding Joao Almeida’s bike sizes and fitting.
As a result, I am missing the exact size of his stem length, handlebars width, and crank arm’s length.

The Deda Elementi Alanera integrated stem handlebar combo is likely to be custom-sized.
The team UAE Emirates uses a custom Alanera stem with Richard Mille name on it as a sponsor, and custom sizes that aren’t available on Deda Elementi’s homepage.
To illustrate this, Pogacar uses a 120mm by 400mm Alanera on his Colnago Prototype bike on this year’s Tour de France. This sizing is not available on Deda’s website.
While on the subject of custom parts, Almeida’s Colnago V3RS bike fetures a factory-tuned Campagnolo Super Record EPS 12-speeds, disc type groupset.
According to the mechanic, all the components of the Campagnolo groupset are lighter than the commercial version.
It is going to be interesting to watch Joao Almeida on La Vuelta a Espana 2022 to look for validation of the bike size and prototype parts.
Prototype Clincher wheels

The Team UAE-Emirates uses the three technologies of pneumatics that are Tubeless, tubulars, and clinchers.
Almeida prefers racing with Pirelli P-Zero clinchers 26mm of section and the Pirelli P-Zero Smartubes.
Depending on the race, Almeida uses the Look Keo 2 Max and the Look Keo Carbon Blade Ti pedals.
Joao Almeida wears a Met helmet, Scion sunglasses, Gobik cycling jersey, bib-shorts, gloves and socks. He races with a pair of beaten-up Specialized shoes cycling shoes. from the time he was on a Specialized bike.
