Colnago Size 485
Joao Almeida is 1m78 tall and rides the Colnago V4Rs size 485.
The Colnago V4Rs size 485 corresponds to a frame size of 54cm.
Comparing the geometry of the Colnago V3Rs size 480 with the V4Rs size 485, some differences can be spotted.
The Colnago V4Rs have a longer top tube length, longer reach, and subsequently, longer wheelbase.
But the most notable change is a longer headtube. The V4Rs have a 130mm headtube length which is 13mm longer than the Colnago V3Rs size 480.
In terms of geometry, the V4Rs are more stable thanks to their longer wheelbase and more comfortable with a slightly higher front.
As a reminder, the Colnago V4Rs have been designed for and influenced by Tadej Pogacar, Joao Almeida, and the rest of the UAE Team Emirates team.
The Colnago V4Rs is designed to climb mountains more than a sprinter machine, even though it does the job perfectly well.
All this is to explain the longer headtube design. Climbers appreciate the seated position on a frame with a higher headtube.
Almeida’s Bike Fit
Almeida uses a 110mm stem length with a 400mm width integrated aero handlebar. This model is not available on the ENVE catalog, yet.
Almeida’s Prologo M5 Scratch saddle is at 728mm height which is measured from the center of the bottom bracket to the top of the saddle, and 77mm setback.
The seat post is a 15mm setback model.
From 2023, the UAE Team Emirates bikes have left Campagnolo gears for the Shimano Dura-Ace 12-Speeds transmission and brakes.
The gear combination for most races is the Shimano new standard of 54/40 Teeth at the front and the 11-30 Teeth cassette.
The cassette configuration might be different depending on the race’s profile.
Joao rides with 172.5mm crank arms’ length and Shimano Dura-Ace pedals.
Fine Tuning
The bottom bracket and headset bearings on Almeida’s Colnago are the CeramicSpeed Ceramic models with read-color cups.
Unlike some other lightweight climbers who use 140mm disc rotors diameter in front and rear, Joao races with 160mm disc rotor on the front.
Almeida races the 2023 UCI World Tour season with four models of ENVE wheels.
The models are the ENVE SES 2.3, 3.4, 4.5, and the deeper 6.7.
From 2023, the tire supplier of the UAE Team Emirates is Continental.
Depending on the race profile and the ground surface, Almeida has access to three types of tires, they are tubeless, tubulars, and clinchers.
Whichever tire type has the best properties for the day’s race will be selected.
