Neilson Powless’ 2022 Bike Size

This page focus on Neilson Powless’ 2022 bike size, fitting, and specification.
The professional road cyclist from the U.S.A. is racing the UCI World Tour with the team EF Education EasyPost until the season 2024 included.
Which is an excellent choice in my opinion. Neilson can focus on racing instead of spending his energy adapting to a new team, new bike, new environment, etc…

To describe Neilson Powless in a condensed way, he is a General Classification (GC) type of rider.
He races mainly multiple stages races like the Tour de France at which he did a great race.
2022 is the best professional racing season for Neilson so far and as he is still 26 years old he can still progress.

Now let’s dig into the nerdy content of Neilson Powless’ bike.

Neilson Powless is 1m83 tall and weighs 67kg at his peak form.
He rides a size 58cm Cannondale SuperSix EVO road bike on mountain stages, but not only as he was racing it on the Grand Prix du Quebec which is more a Criterium style than a mountain climbing style of the stage. And on the World Championships.

Cannondale recommends the Cannondale SuperSix Evo Size 58cm to riders from 1m82 to 1m93 on its website.

The Bike Fit

Neilson Powless uses a seat post with a 25mm setback, and a Prologo Dimension Nack.
Unfortunately, I do not have the position of the saddle as I write this content. I will update you as soon as I get it from Neilson.

The cockpit consists of a Vision 5D bar/stem combo. The stem has 120mm in length, and the handlebars are 400mm in width, depending on where you measure it.

Like the youngsters among the pro peloton, Powless has his brake levers tilted inward to optimize his aero position.
Riders are saying it also minimizes getting caught by the handlebars of other riders when riding in the middle of the peloton.

Powless rides with 175mm FSA Powerbox crank arm’s length equipped with 54/40 teeth chainrings and with power2max power meter.
The team EF Education EasyPost is the only team on the UCI World Tour to use the Wahoo Speedplay Aero pedals.

The rest of the gears are the Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 12-speed disc brakes type. There isn’t much to add about the Shimano gears as it is stock setup.

Marginal Gain Department

The whole team races most of the races with the Vision Metron 55. Depending on the race profile, Neilson switch between the Tubeless and the Tubular tires.

The Tubeless are used for flat and fast-rolling races that are less than 2,000m of cumulated ascent.
The reason is that the tubeless tires are about 300g heavier than the tubulars, which means approximately 15 Watts of energy saved with the tubular tires.

The tires are the 28mm width Vittoria Corsa which are famous for their excellent grip quality and relative comfort.
While on the subject of good grips, the handlebar’s tape is from Prologo.

Neilson Powless’ Cannondale SuperSix EVO bike is in white with the front fork in pink to reflect the brand colors of the main sponsor of the team, EF Education.
On the Tour de France 2022, Neilson and his teammates were racing with a limited edition Cannondale SuperSix EVO called “Tour de Futur” to celebrate the return of the Tour de France Femmes.

Soft and Wears

To monitor the power meter and WHOOPS skin temperature live data, the bike is fitted with a Wahoo Elemnt GPS cycling computer on the front of the Metron handlebar via a Silca Chisela 3D printed computer mount.

Neilson Powless wears a POC Ventra Lite helmet, POC sunglasses, Rapha team cycling jersey and bib-shorts, and Shimano S-Phyre RC-903 cycling shoes.

One cool detail I liked is seeing Neilson Powless racing the UCI Road World Championships in Australia with black-colored Shimano S-Phyre cycling shoes. Most of the pro peloton races with white color shoes throughout the season, including Neilson.

The Cannondale SuperSix EVO 2022 of Neilson Powless cost approximately 15,000 USD.
