Tour de France Femmes
Hey Nerdy Bike friends, please consider subscribing to my newsletter to receive an email whenever I update the site with bike nerd content like this one. No spam, no money requests, just free updates 🙂
There have been Tour de France Femmes editions in the 1980s that were raced on the same day and same Parcours as the men’s Tour de France.
Due to a lack of general public interest, the edition was abandoned.
Nowadays, with the huge popularity of cycling and the lower cost to broadcast worldwide through the internet, the Tour de France Femmes is back.
The 2022 edition is 8 days long starting from Paris on July 24th.
The final stage ends on the top of La Super Planche des Belles Filles which was also the goal of the men’s Tour de France on stage 7.
As there is plenty of content on the internet about the course and potential contenders to win I will spare you repeating the same stuff and jump straight into the nerdy things as to who races what on the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift 2022.
But first, a few numbers to sound clever at your next cafe ride:
- 24 teams of 6 riders start the 8 days race. In case you don’t have your Casio Scientific calculator handy, this is a peloton of 144 bikes.
- 14 teams are World Tour Women (WTW) and the other 10 teams are at a UCI Continental level.
- The tallest rider is 1m82, and the shortest one is 1m55.
- The average height and weight of the women’s peloton are 1m69 and 57kg. (The men’s peloton are 1m82 and 70kg)
