Jay Vine’s 2022 Bike size

You might be wondering why I am writing a post about Jay Vine’s 2022 Bike size on the day he announces joining a different team.

I am writing a focus page on Jay Vine now to document his current Canyon bike size and which size he will be racing in 2023.

Jay Vine is racing for the team Alpecin-Deceuninck until the end of 2022 and will join UAE Team Emirates with a two years contract from January 2023.

As I have been working on the current Vine’s Canyon Aeroad bike size since September I think it is better to publish the current information on my website as a reference to compare with his future bike sizes.

From Zwift to Pro

But first, a few words about who’s Jay vine and why it is worth giving attention to the Australian cyclist.
Many professional cyclists come from various backgrounds and land on the road cycling scene.

Jay Vine got his professional contract with the UCI Pro Team Alpecin-Fenix by winning the 2020 Zwift Academy program.
This direct access to professional status made Jay Vine a rather unknown rider among the pro peloton since he didn’t race the usual European road races.

However, categorizing Jay Vine as a “virtual” rider would be unfair and missing the fact he is an excellent climber.
During his two years with the now-called Alpecin-Deceuninck Team, Jay Vine participated two times at La Vuelta a Espana and various other multiple stages races.

Winning La Vuelta stages in front of GC stars

On the 2022’s Vuelta edition, Vine won two mountain stages including stage 6 in front of the General Classification protagonist of Remco Evenepoel of QuickStep Alpha Vinyl team, Enric Mas of Movistar team, Juan Ayuso of UAE Team Emirates, and Primoz Roglic of Jumbo Visma.

Despite being relatively unknown to the general public, Jay Vine has made a name for himself in the professional cycling world, and the managers of UAE Team Emirates have secured a great team asset for Tadej Pogacar‘s 2023 Tour de France.
But that’s a different story.

For now, let’s dive into what I know about Jay Vine’s Canyon Aeroad CFR SLR.

So what is Jay Vine’s 2022 Bike size?

Jay Vine is 1m84 tall and rides the size L (56) Canyon Aeroad CFR.

On its website, Canyon recommends the Aeroad size L to riders measuring from 1m84 to 1m90.

He is on the fence to pick a size 54, which I suspect he did with the newly released Canyon Ultimate that he used on the Vuelta 2022’s mountain stages.

But Jay told me he was riding the size 56 Aeroad and did not reply to my question if he was on a size 54 Ultimate.
So he is (was) riding a size 56 Canyon Aeroad, the same size as Mathieu Van Der Poel who is also 1m84.

The geometries of the Canyon Aeroad CFR frame and the Ultimate CFR are different. Hence the possibility for Jay to be on the Ultimate CFR M as the L features a longer head tube and stack than the Aeroad L.
But since he did confirm only his Aeroad CFR bike size. I’ll stick to what I know.

The Bike Fitting

Jay Vine rides a size L Canyon Aeroad fitted with the 120mm Canyon CP0018 one-piece bar/stem with the handlebars width set at 410mm.

The Dura-Ace crankset arms are 175mm, and the pedals are the Shimano Dura-Ace SPD-SL.

The third contact point is the Selle Italia Flite Superflow saddle.
Unfortunately, I don’t know the saddle position at the time of writing, but I will update the post whenever I obtain this information.

Until the end of the year 2022, Jay is racing with the Shimano S-Phyre cycling shoes and the Blue color Shimano cleats.

All these specifications and setups will change in 2023 with the new team as it means Jay will have to adopt adapt to a new bike geometry, a Colnago, a new saddle, a Prologo, a different pair of shoes, and pedals, Look pedals.

Luckily for Jay at least, but unfortunately for some Italians, the UAE Team Emirates has announced switching from Campagnolo to Shimano groupset from 2023.
That’s a groupset he is familiar with.

Let’s wait and see Jay Vine’s 2023 new bike size.
