The Belgian ProTeam has amassed 8251 UCI points in 2021. Ranking the team as sixth in the UCI Team ranking. To put things in perspective, the second ProTeam, Arkea-Samsic is 17th in the UCI Team ranking.
Being top ranked ProTeam allows the Alpecin-Deceuninck to participate to all the UCI World Tour races, including the three Grand Tours; Giro d’Italia, Tour de France and Vuelta a Espana.
After an excellent 2021 season, Alpecin-Deceuninck team is strengthening for the 2022 season with nine incoming transfers to support Mathieu Van Der Poel, Tim Merlier and Jasper Philipsen.

Alpecin-Deceuninck 2022 Strategy
The team is focussing on the Spring Classic races and Sprint stage wins.
It is going to be challenging to beat the the squad on sprint finishes. As most of team riders are either Flondrian (Spring Classics) specialist or sprinters. In other words, there are a lot of Watts in this team.
VAN DER POEL Mathieu, DILLIER Silvan, LEYSEN Senne, MERLIER Tim, VAN KEIRSBULCK Guillaume, VERMEERSCH Gianni, VERMOTE Julien are the riders racing the Paris-Roubaix 2022.
VAN DER POEL Mathieu, BAYER Tobias, DE BONDT Dries, KRIEGER Alexander, LEYSEN Senne, MARECZKO Jakub, OLDANI Stefano, and RIESEBEEK Oscar are on the Giro d’Italia 2022 to win any stages, especially in the first week.
VAN DER POEL Mathieu, DILLIER Silvan, GOGL Michael, KRIEGER Alexander, PHILIPSEN Jasper, PLANCKAERT Edward, SBARAGLI Kristian, and VAN KEIRSBULCK Guillaume are racing the Tour de France 2022.
VINE Jay, VERMEERSCH Gianni, TAMINIAUX Lionel, STANNARD Robert, RIESEBEEK Oscar, MEURISSE Xandro, MERLIER Tim, and JANSSENS Jimmy are racing La Vuelta a Espana 2022.
Michael Gogl, Jay Vine, Edward Anderson, Floris De tier are the climbers of the squad.
Xandro Meurisse is a potential candidate for GC classification should it becomes the team strategy.
An interesting fact is a new sponsor joined for 2022, it is Deceuninck. Deceuninck has been a long time sponsor of Quick Step Team, the Belgian World Tour team. Despite having the new official partner name on its jerseys, Alpecin-Fenix team keeps its name unchanged.
Team Alpecin-Deceuninck UCI abbreviation is AFC.
The bikes
Alpecin-Fenix Team 2022 is racing on Canyon Aeroad bikes. The gears are Shimano Dura Ace Di2 12 speed, disc type groupset. Wheels and pedals are from Shimano too.
Saddles and bar tape are by Selle Italia. GPS head units from Wahoo. Vittoria supplies the tires.
