Newest Post: Mathieu Van Der Poel’s Paris-Roubaix 2023

This is the beginning of a new era in road bike cycling; The end of 11 speed.

Shimano released its long-awaited 12-speed groupset on the last week of the Vuelta 2021. Despite being glued to my laptop screen I could not spot any pros finishing the Vuelta a Espana with the new 12-speed groupset.
The Vuelta 2021 was thus the last Grand Tour raced (and Won!) on an 11-speed road bike.

The first Pro rider to be officially racing on Shimano’s new 12 speed Dura-Ace groupset is Mathieu Van Der Poel.

Arnaud Démare’s Lapierre Bike size 2021

This is Arnaud Démare’s Lapierre Bike size 2021.

The talented French sprinter is racing on the new Lapierre Aircode DRS 2021 for the team Groupama FDJ.

The Lapierre Aircode DRS 2021 has been seen on some spring races before the 2020 season got into a forced break. The bike was ready for official release and the Lapierre’s managers did hold on the official release until racing resumed. The Aircode DRS 2021 finally has been officially released in September 2020.

The geometry has changed slightly compare to its predecessor. It got a more aggressive geometry with a steeper seat angle and longer reach. Yet the comfort has been enhanced at the same time with the seat stays meeting the top tube. Lapierre claims this does improve the comfort by 12%. I am not sure how to measure this, but any form of comfort is welcome.
