Today I am writing about Andrea Piccolo’s 2023 Bike Size. In case you don’t know who is Andrea Piccolo, he is one of those super-talented young riders joining the pro peloton.
Andrea joined the team EF Education-EasyPost on August 2022 with a contract up to 2024 included. As soon as the young Italian rider joined the World Tour’s team, Andrea started racing on some end-of-the-season classics.
Already a Great Rider
He finished 5th on the Maryland Cycling Classic, 3rd on the Coppa Agostini – Giro Del Brianze, 11th on Il Lombardia, and 2nd on the Japan Cup Cycle Road Race. It looks like the Team EF Education-EasyPost has picked up a promising rider.
This post focuses on the German pro cyclist Rick Zabel’s 2023 bike size as he races for the team Israel-Premier Tech.
Rick Zabel is the son of the great sprinter Erik Zabel, who won the Tour de France’s Green Jersey for six years among other prestigious titles.
Zabel Sprinter Family
Like his father, Rick Zabel is a sprinter type of rider. Rick started professional cyclist in 2012 when he joined the Rabobank Continental Team. After a couple of years with Rabobank he entered the UCI World tour when joining the BMC Racing Team for three years on a BMC road bike. Then the Katusha team on a Canyon Aeroad for three years. And now with the Israel-Premier Tech team from 2020 up to 2024.
Factor bike company is the bike sponsor of the team Israel-Premier Tech. Despite the fact the team has access to various bikes from the Factor catalog, the Factor Ostro VAM has become the main model for all races except Time-Trials.
Before the 2022 season, the team was using the Ostro VAM for flat stages and the O2 VAM for mountain stages. With the evolution of the Ostro VAM frame becoming lighter while staying aerodynamically fast, it has become the universal model of the team Israel-Premier Tech.

So what’s Rick Zabel’s 2023 bike size?
Rick Zabel is 1m84 tall and races on the size 54cm Factor Ostro VAM.
Rick Zabel’s 2023 Factor Ostro Bike Size 54
The Factor Ostro VAM size 54cm weighs 830gr, this explains why this model is also used on the mountain stages.
The bike saddle of Rick is set with the Selle Italia Flite at 788mm in height. That is measured from the center of the bottom bracket to the top of the saddle. I know you know how it is measured, but just in case.
The Black Inc seat post is a 25mm setback model. Unfortunately, I do not know the exact saddle setback and distance from the front of the saddle to the handlebar reach at the time of writing.
Rick uses the Balck Inc bar-stem combo in 120mm stem length and 400mm bar width.
Except for the seat post and saddle position, it is the same setup as Carl Fredrik Hagen who is 1m80. You can read or listen to my review of Carl Fredrik Hagen’s Factor Ostro VAM on this post here: Carl Fredrik Hagen’s 2022 Bike Size.
The length of the Rotor crankset arms on Zabel’s bike is 175mm. The pedals are the Shimao Dura-Ace SPD-SL.
The riders of the team Israel-Premier Tech do not have a shoe contract forcing them to wear shoes that might not fit them. Zabel races with the Nimble Ultimate cycling shoes, in white color as it is the trendy shoe color in the pro peloton.
The Shimano cleats are the fixed float model, aka SM-SH10 which you can purchase directly on the link here . Make sure you understand that most amateurs should be using the Yellow or Blue cleats.
Zabel’s Bike Specifications
The rest of Rick Zabel’s racing bike is consistent with the ones of the team. The bikes are equipped with Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 12 speeds groupset, and disc brakes type. The wheels are from Black Inc, the parts department of Factor. The rim height depends on the race’s profile. They are from the twenty-millimeter model up to the sixty-millimeter high rim walls.
As for the rim selection, the tire choices depend on the race profile. Rick Zabel uses the Maxxis High Road SL tubular tires on mountain stages and the Tubeless version on flat races filled with Orange Seal sealant.
The headset, bottom bracket, and wheels hubs bearings are the CeramicSpeed ceramic bearings. The rear derailleur is now the stock Shimano model unlike in 2021 when it was tuned up with CeramicSpeed oversized jokey wheels.
Other riders on Ostro VAM Size 54
Among the Team Israel-PremierTech, Guillaume Boivin, Chris Froome, and Daryl Impey are also riding on the size 54cm Factor Ostro VAM frame. Click on their name to check my reviews of their bikes.
The Factor Ostro VAM 2022 of Rick Zabel cost approximately US$ 15,000.

You might be wondering why I am writing a post about Jay Vine’s 2022 Bike size on the day he announces joining a different team.
I am writing a focus page on Jay Vine now to document his current Canyon bike size and which size he will be racing in 2023.
Jay Vine is racing for the team Alpecin-Deceuninck until the end of 2022 and will join UAE Team Emirates with a two years contract from January 2023.
As I have been working on the current Vine’s Canyon Aeroad bike size since September I think it is better to publish the current information on my website as a reference to compare with his future bike sizes.
This page focus on Neilson Powless’ 2022 bike size, fitting, and specification. The professional road cyclist from the U.S.A. is racing the UCI World Tour with the team EF Education EasyPost until the season 2024 included. Which is an excellent choice in my opinion. Neilson can focus on racing instead of spending his energy adapting to a new team, new bike, new environment, etc…
To describe Neilson Powless in a condensed way, he is a General Classification (GC) type of rider. He races mainly multiple stages races like the Tour de France at which he did a great race. 2022 is the best professional racing season for Neilson so far and as he is still 26 years old he can still progress.
This page focus on Remco Evenepoel’s 2022 Bike size. The Belgian pro cyclist won the UCI Road Race World Championships 2022 in Wollongong, Australia, on a Specialized S-works Tarmac SL7.
Before I get into the nerdy stuff about Evenepoel’s bike let’s zoom out and appreciate his amazing 2022 season so far. The 2022 season is the first full season Remco is racing as an Elite professional cyclist due to the dramatic crash he had on La Lombardia 2020. He has been in recovery for 26 weeks thereafter.
Remco Evenepoel is only 22 years old and he has already been two times Road bike world champion. Once as an elite pro in 2022, and the previous time was as a junior in 2018, winning both the road and Individual Time-Trial world titles.
He is already a great champion and getting known to the general public after this year’s wins of La Vuelta a Espana, Liege-Bastogne-Liege, and the World Championship. He has 15 races and stage wins this year 2022 alone. Remco is bringing the Grand Tour victories experience for the first time to the team Soudal – QuickStep, and we can dream of a fantastic Tour de France 2023.
But for now let’s dig into Remco Evenepoel’s 2022 Bike size, and specifications.

Evenepoel Rides 52cm Frame Size
Remco Evenepoel is 1m71 tall and weighs 63kg at his peak form. Remco is a top Time-Trialist type of rider who happens to climb very well too. He is not a skinny rider like most typical pure climbers.
Remco Evenepoel rides the Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL7 size 52cm.
Remco Evenepoel’s 2022 Bike size 52cm
Specialized recommends the Tarmac SL7 size 52cm to riders from 1m63 to 1m70 tall. The young Belgian rider being just over the fence of the size 54cm, he and the Retul fitter have decided to go one size down and race with the size 52cm.
It is the same frame size as two years ago when I analyzed Remco’s bike. However few details changed regarding his bike fitting.
The stem is now a 110mm Specialized S-Works and the handlebars are thePRO Vibe Aero Carbon380mm width. A longer stem and narrower handlebar, helped Evenepoel to optimize his aerodynamic position.
The seat post is now the 0mm setback Specialized S-Works Tarmac Carbon, and the saddle is the shorter Specialized S-Works Mirror Power. The saddle’s position is more forward than his previous position to accommodate his optimized position toward the front.
Evenepoel’s saddle is set at 710mm height, measured from the center of the bottom bracket to the top of the saddle. The tip of the saddle to the handlebar’s reach axle is 545mm. A slightly more stretched position than 2 years ago.
The crank arm’s length hasn’t changed, Remco is using the 170mm Shimano Dura-Ace crank arms. The chainrings are the 54/40 teeth that are the new Shimano 12-speeds standard replacing the 53/39T.
One great feature of the Tarmac SL7 in my opinion is the low BB center which allows riders to have a lower center of gravity. Therefore an advantage in aerodynamic position compared to the rest of the bikes among the pro peloton. The Tarmac SL7 in size 52cm has a 74mm BB drop.

Simple and Efficient Bike Setup
The bike is now equipped with the Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 12-speeds, disc brakes type. The groupset is almost stock except for the CeramicSpeed ceramic bearings bottom bracket.
Remco has his brake/shifter lever tilted inward allowing him to rest his wrist while in an aero position.
The wheels on Remco Evenepoel on most of the races he wins are the Roval Alpinist CLX II disc clinchers. These wheels of 33mm rim height are spinning on DT Swiss SINK ceramic bearings and are Tubeless ready.
The tires are the Tubeless Specialized S-Works Turbo RapidAir, 26mm of section.
Evenepoel Wears
Remco Evenepoel wears a Specialized S-work Prevail helmet, Oakley Custom Sutro Lite sunglasses, Castelli team jersey and bib-shorts, and Specialized S-Works Ares Road cycling shoes in red color on the World championships. The shoes are connected to the Shimano Dura-Ace 9200 pedals via the red color Shimano SPD-SL cleats which have 5 degrees of float. Like most great pro riders nowadays, Remco doesn’t wear cycling gloves.
Do not hesitate to drop me a message on my Instagram if you have any comments regarding Remco Evenepoel’s 2022 Bike size.
