Lotto Soudal team 2022 is racing a crucial year as relegation is at stake and must be avoided to stay in the UCI World Tour.
The Belgian team prioritize the Flandrian classics and sprint types of races. General classification podiums for the sprint jersey is potentially a target for Caleb Ewan. However it is clear the team strategy is not focussed on winning a Grand Tour.
This of course does free up the opportunist team riders to hunt a stage win on transition stages.
2022 is the last season of Philippe Gilbert. The 2012 World Champion will retire at the end of the season after 20 years as pro cyclist.
It feels special to see him racing his last year. I am getting emotional here, let me stick to the topic.
For his last season Philippe Gilbert is skipping Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix to focus on Milan-San Remo. The only Monument missing in his palmares.

GILBERT Philippe, VERMEERSCH Florian, BEULLENS Cedric, CAMPENAERTS Victor, GRIGNARD Sébastien, KLUGE Roger, VAN MOER Brent are racing 119th Paris-Roubaix 2022.
EWAN Caleb, SELIG Rüdiger, VANHOUCKE Harm, DE GENDT Thomas, HOLMES Matthew, KLUGE Roger, MONIQUET Sylvain, SCHWARZMANN Michael are racing the Giro d’Italia.
EWAN Caleb, FRISON Frederik, GILBERT Philippe, JANSE VAN RENSBURG Reinardt, KRON Andreas, VAN MOER Brent, VERMEERSCH Florian, and WELLENS Tim are the headliners for the Tour de France 2022.
BEULLENS Cedric, CONCA Filippo, CRAS Steff, DE GENDT Thomas, DRIZNERS Jarrad, MAŁECKI Kamil, SWEENY Harry, and VAN GILS Maxim are racing La Vuelta a Espana 2022.
Ridley Bikes
Lotto Soudal team races on Ridley bikes since 2005. It is a long love story for the two Belgian entities as the partnership contract has been extended till 2025.
Three models are available to the team; Ridley Helium SLX, Noah Fast and the new Dean Fast for the time trials.
The main change is the switch from Campagnolo gears to Shimano for the season 2022.
The bikes are built with Shimano Dura Ace Di2 9200 12 speed groupset. The Shimano top tier group set is tuned with Cema Ceramic bearings wherever bearings are in use and KMC chain.
DT Swiss wheels are spinning on Vittoria tubulars and tubeless tires.
The riders touch points are Selle Italia saddles, Deda seat post, stem/handlebar combos. Handlebars are wrapped with LizardSkin bar tape. The pedals are the Look Keo Blade Carbon Ti.
4iiii provides the power sensors and Garmon the GPS head units. Tacx bottle cages and bidons.
Lotto Soudal team 2022 wears Vermarc jerseys and bib shorts. Ekoi helmets and sunglasses. Defeet socks.
