Giro d’Italia 2023’s Team Bikes and Riders

This page is the ultimate guide about Giro d’Italia 2023’s Team Bikes and Riders.

The Italian Grand Tour starts on May 6th and ends on May 28th, 2023.
In a nutshell, the 106th edition of the Giro d’Italia is 3,489km long, 51,400m cumulated altitude gain, and an average of 166km race per day, for three weeks.

The Giro 2023

22 teams of 8 riders are competing for the Maglia Rosa. This represents 176 riders and 176 unique bikes.

Among the 22 teams, 18 are from the UCI WorldTour, and four teams from the UCI ProTour are invited at the discretion of the Giro d’Italia organization.

Let’s remember it is the Australian rider, Jay Hindley, who did win the 2022 Giro d’Italia with a Specialized S-works Tarmac SL7 bike.
The second was Richard Carapaz with a Pinarello Dogma, and Mikel Landa finished third on a Merida bike.

Will it be a rider on Specialized Tarmac SL7 who conquers the 2023 Giro d’Italia again?
We will have the answer on May 28th.

Being an Italian race, the most represented nationality is Italian, of course. It is followed by the French and Belgian riders.

More Australian Riders than Spanish

There is more Australian rider racing the Giro D’Italia 2023 than there are Spanish riders. This can be surprising considering Spain has a bigger road cycling scene than Australia.
Australia is a nation producing a lot of great pro cyclists compared to its total population.
However, Slovenia might be beating Australia in terms of the top cyclist per population ratio.
